Dominoes is a type of game played on a table-top, with rectangular tiles or placques. As with other types of games such as playing cards, there are a plethora of different types of games played with domino pieces.
Domino playing pieces may be referred to as tiles, or sometimes "bones". An individual piece is generally just called a "domino".
Dominoes are sold in sets, containing various numbers of dominoes. The most common set is Double-9, which has sufficient tiles for 4 players to play most games. If more people will be playing a domino game, there must be more tiles so that each can build a hand and still have some to draw from in the extra dominoes sometimes called the "bone pile".
